Gaudete et exsultate ("Rejoice and be glad") is the name of the apostolic exhortation from Pope Francis that will be released next week, the Holy See Press Office has announced.  The exhortation will focus on the call to holiness in the contemporary world.

The official presentation of the apostolic exhortation will occur on Monday, 9 April, in Rome, by Monsignor Angelo De Donatis, the vicar-general of the Diocese of Rome.  Other speakers at the presentation will be journalist Gianni Valente and Paola Bignardi from Catholic Action.

Gaudete et exsultate will be Pope Francis' third apostolic exhortation.  His first, Evangelii gaudium ("the Joy of the Gospel") was published in the first year of his pontificate and addressed the proclamation of the Gospel in today's world.  The second, Amoris laetitia ("the Joy of Love") was published following the Extraordinary and Ordinary Synods on the Family.

An apostolic exhortation is one way in which the Pope can exercise his teaching authority, and is used to address a particular area of the faith - in this case, the universal call to holiness.
