Archbishop Blesses Nativity Scene

It is a beautiful tradition in the St Mary's Cathedral forecourt.

The blessing of the life-size and hand-carved nativity scene by the Archbishop of Sydney.

Following Solemn Mass on the First Sunday of Advent Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP left the Cathedral and made his way to the Nativity Scene at the
bottom of the Cathedral steps where workmen spent the past fortnight preparing the display.

Since the Nativity Scene first went on display 11 years ago thousands of people, families and children in particular, have gained great joy looking at the figures and imagining what the Holy Family felt on that first Christmas and the birth of Our Lord.
