The III Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, which began on 5 October 2014, will continue in Rome until to Sunday 19 October. Chris Meney, Director of the Archdiocese of Sydney's Life, Marriage and Family Centre was invited to attend the Synod and is currently in Rome.

In an interview with Salt and Light TV following day 3 of the Synod, Chris Meney spoke about the Vatican's commitment to walk with modern day families, and their plans for evnagelisation within families around the world.

"It has been very interesting watching the different perspectives come into play from the universal Church and the various challenges that operate in different jurisdictions... "I think there is a real determination to try and work with families, to walk with couples and to help them on their journey," he says.

A day of prayer and fasting for the success of the Extraordinary Synod on the Family has been proposed by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference for today - Friday 10 October 2014. The Archdiocese of Sydney's Life, Marriage and Family Centre, is encouraging Australians to support the day of prayer and fasting by offering a special prayer or fasting from a meal or favourite food or drink as a powerful prayer and expression of solidarity with the Synod.
